Laser Skin Resurfacing (CO2)

Introduction

Introduction to Laser Skin Resurfacing

Pixel Fractional Laser Resurfacing is today’s most advanced CO2 laser treatment for skin. It can improve skin color, tone, texture, and tightening in just a few easy and painless treatments. The Carney Center, based in Virginia Beach, offers laser skin resurfacing to patients seeking to enhance the beauty of their skin. Read on to learn more about the benefits of this technology and schedule your consultation today!

What is Laser Skin Resurfacing, and how does it work?

Pixel skin resurfacing with a CO2 laser is based on the principle of microthermal treatment zones. The laser pulses create tiny ablative zones, removing the epidermis and upper dermis. The treatment then triggers the body’s natural healing process, stimulating the growth of new healthy skin tissue.

The procedure targets small areas of the skin, leaving the surrounding tissue unharmed. The larger unaffected areas act as a reservoir to promote rapid tissue healing and collagen production. The bottom line is new, healthier, smoother tissue instead of skin imperfections.

What Are the Benefits of Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Our patients in Virginia Beach often request laser skin resurfacing treatments for the following benefits:

  • Non-invasive procedure
  • Natural results
  • Targeted treatment of problem areas
  • Firmer, smoother skin texture
  • Reduced appearance of minor blemishes such as acne scars or sun damage
  • Little to no downtime for recovery

Who Are the Best Candidates For Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Pixel skin resurfacing can be used on patients of most skin types anywhere on the body. Since the procedure spares healthy tissue, it can be performed on delicate areas of the skin, such as the face, neck, chest, and hands.

The Carney Center recommends laser skin resurfacing for patients in Virginia Beach who exhibit some or all of the following characteristics:

  • Have uneven skin tone
  • Have rough, textured skin
  • Visible sun damage or minor blemishes
  • “Dull” appearance

Laser skin resurfacing with CO2 lasers is not recommended for patients with darker skin tones. This is due to the laser’s inability to distinguish between melanated skin and sun-damaged skin. If you have darker skin tones, please schedule a consultation to learn more about whether the Pixel skin resurfacing procedure is suitable for you and about the range of skin care treatments available.

When you are ready, the Pixel laser skin resurfacing device will be guided along your skin, targeting your areas of concern outlined in your consultation. Depending on the extent of the treatment required, this procedure may take no more than twenty to thirty minutes.

Laser Skin Resurfacing Recovery

After treatment, you may experience a slight tingling sensation and some swelling for a day or two. As new skin replaces dead tissue, your skin will flake, a sign that healing is underway. Your skin will look better immediately and continue to improve steadily over the next four months.
