For over 30 years, Dr. Martin J. Carney has been delivering high-quality cosmetic surgery in Hampton Roads. Dr. Carney trained at some of the finest medical universities in the country and is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), the only board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) to certify plastic surgeons. Additionally, he is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and a member of both the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS) and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS).

Dr. Martin Carney III grew up in Virginia Beach, VA, and returned home to join his father, Dr. Martin J. Carney, in practice and serve the community. After attending high school at Norfolk Academy, he went to Tulane University on an academic scholarship where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He remained at Tulane University School of Medicine for his medical school, obtaining another academic scholarship.
Following a research fellowship at the prestigious Penn Plastic Surgery program, Dr. Carney III spent six years in an integrated plastic and reconstructive surgery residency at Yale University, a premier training program. There, he learned state-of-the-art techniques in aesthetic surgery.
Dr. Carney III has published over 35 peer-reviewed articles and multiple book chapters, and has presented at national aesthetic and plastic surgery meetings across the country. He serves as a peer reviewer for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Aesthetic Surgery Journal. Staying up to date with the literature, Dr. Carney III brings the newest and most innovative techniques in plastic surgery to his practice.
Dr. Carney and Dr. Carney III have hospital privileges in Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital and Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital. Their father-son practice at The Carney Center ensures patients benefit from institutional knowledge and the latest innovations in plastic surgery.
