Microblading

Introduction

Introduction to Microblading

As we age, our hair thins, including on our eyebrows. The Carney Center offers microblading to carefully fill in the fine hairs that disappear over time, resulting in eyebrows that appear full, without appearing “drawn on” or tattooed, with semi-permanent results. Thin eyebrows can be a thing of the past! To learn more about microblading, please schedule a consultation at The Carney Center in Virginia Beach.

What is Microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent tattooing technique that creates realistic hairlike strokes to fill in sparse or thinning brows. The technique involves using a specialized blade to make small, hairlike incisions in the skin, which is then filled in with a pigment that most closely resembles your natural hair color. The result is the appearance of eyebrow-like hairs that fill out the eyebrow shape and do not rinse off in the shower!

What Are the Benefits of Microblading?

  • Beautiful brows in just two sessions
  • Fills in sparse brows without makeup
  • Give arch and/or correct shape or asymmetry
  • Perfect for people with no brows, blonde, or faint brows
  • Looks natural
  • Long-lasting results, 1-3 years
  • Saves you time in your makeup routine
  • Your face will look more youthful and brighter, while you will be more confident
  • Doesn’t wipe off when sweating or swimming
  • Unlike more invasive procedures, microblading has a fairly low risk

Who Are the Best Candidates For Microblading?

The Carney Center offers microblading to candidates who meet the following characteristics:

  • Have sparse, thin, or overplucked eyebrows
  • Uneven or asymmetrical eyebrows
  • Used to have thick eyebrows, but are experiencing thinning and/or hair loss
  • Want close to natural results
  • Are not experiencing an active skin condition such as eczema or psoriasis

Microblading is not recommended for patients with mature skin, as the skin may not receive the incisions well. Microblading will have limited effectiveness on certain skin types. To understand if microblading is suitable for your eyebrows, please schedule a consultation at The Carney Center in Virginia Beach.

What’s the
first step?

If you would like to learn more about your candidacy for a microblading treatment, please schedule a consultation at The Carney Center in Virginia Beach. Your aesthetician will review your medical history, including any hair loss, and evaluate your skin for any current or chronic conditions that may interfere with the effectiveness of the microblading treatment. If you are a candidate for microblading, your aesthetician will create a customized microblading treatment plan and explain how they will use microblading to help fill in and re-create the thinning hairs in your eyebrow shape. You may begin your microblading treatment the same day, or schedule it for a later time at your convenience.

What to Expect on the Day of a Microblading Treatment

When you are ready for your microblading treatment, your aesthetician will desensitize the eyebrows with a topical anesthetic. When the area is sufficiently numb, they will outline the desired brow shape and begin filling in the hair strokes to re-create the appearance of fine hairs. On average, the initial microblading appointment lasts around two hours, with follow-up sessions scheduled 4-6 weeks later, also lasting about one hour.

Microblading Recovery

Following your microblading treatment, the eyebrow area will be slightly red for a few days, and the color may appear very dark initially. In the following days, the eyebrows will continue to be dark, and you will notice slight scabbing. Do not pick at the scabs, as this may damage the skin and the outcome of the microbladed area. The eyebrows will lighten in color as they heal. No downtime is required after the microblading procedure. It takes approximately 7-14 days for the brows to heal over, and about 1 month for the color to fully set in. You’ll notice the color is very light right after the two weeks, and the skin will have an opaque milky-looking quality to it. This is known as the milk skin and is common in tattooing. This is due to the tissue still healing from the inside out, even though the skin’s surface has healed. True color will reveal itself once healed.
