Introduction

Introduction to Chemical Peels

The Carney Center Skin Spa offers a range of peels tailored to your individual goals and desires. Gone are the days of stinging, painful peels. The new generation of chemical peels combines different acids at lower percentages to achieve optimal results without patient discomfort. Chemical peels are a wonderfully quick, safe, and cost-effective way to achieve a more polished and even skin tone by sloughing off unwanted dead skin cells and allowing brand-new, fresh skin to emerge to the surface. Peels will give you the appearance of tighter, brighter skin and small pores! Peels can be performed singularly or in a series for optimal results. Request an appointment today in one of our convenient locations in Virginia Beach or Newport News, VA.

What is a Chemical Peel?

Chemical peels improve the skin’s texture, even skin tone, and remove minor blemishes by removing the damaged surface layers. Different peels offer different concentrations of acids to address certain skin concerns.

What to Expect on the Day of a Chemical Peel Treatment

When you are ready to receive your first chemical peel treatment at The Carney Center Skin Spa in Virginia Beach, you will be given protective eyewear to wear for the duration of your treatment. Your aesthetician will then cleanse your skin and apply the chemical solution, taking care to cover any areas of concern discussed during your consultation. Patients may experience a mild stinging sensation as the chemical peel is applied to the skin. When the treatment is complete, the chemical peel will be neutralized, and your skin will be cleansed again to remove any remaining solution. Depending on the extent of your treatment, this procedure may take up to one hour. You may return home the same day.

Chemical Peel Recovery

Depending on the strength of the chemical peel solution, patients may feel mild tenderness or redness following their chemical peel. Please apply an ice pack or aloe vera to soothe the skin. Patients should also avoid sun exposure, as the skin will be more sensitive to sun damage following the chemical peel treatment.
