During the procedure, a handheld device delivers precise pulses of green light from the KTP laser directly to the targeted veins or redness. The laser energy is absorbed by the blood vessels, causing them to collapse and eventually be reabsorbed by the body. You might feel a mild warming sensation or a light snapping feeling with each pulse—most patients compare it to a quick rubber band snap. To enhance comfort, a cooling gel or device may be used throughout the session to protect the surrounding skin.
