What is Preservé by Motiva?

Preservé by Motiva is a minimally invasive breast augmentation technique designed to preserve the natural tissue of the breasts. In addition to the procedure resulting in natural-looking breasts, Preservé by Motiva leaves much smaller scars than a traditional breast augmentation. Instead of aggressively cutting muscle and tissue, a balloon-like device is gently inserted above the muscle to create a pocket for the implant, which is then delicately placed inside.

This novel approach results in significantly less trauma, allowing patients to recover more quickly and with less discomfort, making it appealing for patients with busy schedules and active lifestyles.

Your first step in getting Preservé by Motiva at The Carney Center is to sit down with one of our expert plastic surgeons. During your consultation, you will discuss the procedure in detail, including the benefits and risks, recovery timeline, what to expect on the day of the surgery, and more. To help our providers determine whether Preservé by Motiva is right for you, you will inform them of your aesthetic goals with the implant, your health history, your budget, and any questions you have. You may also receive an examination of your breasts to help with the assessment. If you are approved for surgery, you will work together to develop a surgical plan tailored to your unique goals and anatomy.

What to Expect on the Day of Preservé by Motiva Surgery

Expect to arrive 10-15 minutes before your appointment, which will be in either Newport News or Virginia Beach, to check in and fill out forms. You must also make sure you have a contact to pick you up, as it will not be safe to drive yourself after the surgery.

The surgery is performed under local anesthesia or IV sedation, allowing you to be responsive to simple prompts yet unable to feel pain. The surgery will take around 45-60 minutes, depending on the extent of the procedure and if you receive additional procedures. A supportive compression garment will be placed around your new breasts to minimize swelling and keep the implants in place.

Preservé by Motiva Recovery

One of the benefits of Preservé by Motiva compared to traditional breast augmentation is a quicker recovery time due to the less invasive technique. Recovering from your Preservé treatment at The Carney Center in Virginia Beach and Newport News includes some swelling, bruising, and soreness around your breasts. To help you tolerate this discomfort, you will be prescribed pain medication and given dosage instructions.

You may return to low-intensity activities within 3 days to a week, making sure not to put pressure on your breasts or sweat. One activity we recommend to keep the body moving is taking short walks, which help with blood circulation. Throughout the recovery period, continue wearing the support garments until they are removed during a follow-up appointment. You may gradually return to more intense activities within 2-3 weeks or as instructed.
