The Carney Center uses the “tumescent” liposuction technique, which requires minimal incisions and results in less bruising and a quicker recovery time. The incisions are very small, inconspicuous, and closed with one stitch. Other procedures, such as lower tummy tuck or medial thigh tuck, may be combined with liposuction to reduce unwanted, excess skin.
Liposuction may be done under local anesthesia, IV sedation, or light general anesthesia. Most patients prefer general anesthesia. Dr. Carney has performed VASER Liposuction on over 1,000 patients for over 10 years.
LipoSelection by VASER combines new technology with advanced surgical techniques. The VASER System uses ultrasound energy to break up and emulsify fat, leaving the surrounding tissue relatively intact.
After using anesthesia, which may be general, local, or local with IV sedation, Dr. Carney will create a tiny incision in the area to be treated. The targeted area is then filled with a special saline solution to facilitate emulsifying the fatty tissue with the VASER® System’s ultrasound energy.
